Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 19 (ANI): The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has put its recruitment process for 235 posts on hold as a three-member high-level committee begins examining complaints and objections received from candidates following the announcement of provisional examination results.
The decision was taken to ensure an independent examination of the concerns raised by candidates and maintain transparency in the recruitment process, the MMRDA said in a press release.
The online recruitment examination was conducted through Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a government-approved agency. According to the press release, a total of 26,749 candidates had applied for the 235 vacant posts, while 20,459 candidates appeared for the examination.
Following the declaration of the provisional results, MMRDA received complaints and objections from some candidates through email. In response, the authority decided to constitute a three-member committee to independently examine the issues raised.
The committee will be headed by former Maharashtra Chief Secretary Johny Joseph. Professor Shyamprasad Kargade and Professor Daska Satyanarayana Murthy, both professors at IIT Bombay, have been appointed as members.
The MMRDA said the committee members have experience in conducting major competitive examinations, including JEE (Advanced), UCEED, CEED, JAM and GATE. While Joseph brings extensive experience in state administration, the two IIT Bombay professors have expertise in examination-related processes.
As part of the review, candidates have been given 30 days to submit their complaints, objections, supporting evidence and relevant documents to the authority at the email address specified by MMRDA.
The authority has also sought an explanation from TCS regarding the issues raised by candidates during the recruitment examination and the subsequent provisional results.
MMRDA said no further action would be taken in the recruitment process until the committee completes its examination and submits its final report.
The authority will take an appropriate decision on the recruitment process after considering the findings and recommendations of the committee, the press release stated.
