Los Angeles [US], August 22 (ANI): Emily Watson is set to return as Valya Harkonnen in the second season of HBO Max's sci-fi series 'Dune: Prophecy', and the actor has given fans a small idea of what they can expect from the new episodes.
The second season has already been filmed but does not have a release date yet. Speaking at the Variety Lounge during the Sarajevo Film Festival, Watson said returning to the world of 'Dune' has been a different experience for her.
The actress, as per Variety, said during the event, "It was a true departure for me to be in a spaceship. You know, it's actually really good fun."
Watson also spoke about her character and said the role gave her a chance to go on a kind of journey that she felt actors often get to experience more than actresses.
Speaking about reprising her role as Valya Harkonnen, she said she felt a "sense of being on a quest in a way that actors always get to do and actresses don't. And that was just fun."
When asked if she could reveal anything about the upcoming season, Watson kept her answer brief but said viewers would see several changes.
"There are a lot of new elements, really interesting and intriguing things [...] I think my head will blow off if I mention any of them," she said.
Watson also spoke about Denis Villeneuve's upcoming 'Dune: Part Three', saying she is looking forward to watching the film.
"I mean, I can't wait to see that movie," she said. "I'm a huge fan of him, obviously, and it's stuffed full of incredible actors that I love."
The actor also recalled joining 'Dune: Prophecy' and working with a younger cast. She said the series brought together several young performers who were relatively new to the industry.
"It's HBO Max, it's huge. A lot of money. It's a sense of it being much more than a corporate world. But it was a big ensemble of young women, some young men, who were all relatively new to the business," Watson said as per Variety.
Watson, who has often spoken about supporting younger actors, said she believes building relationships within the film industry is important, especially for people who are starting out.
"I always give people advice to nurture a relationship with somebody less experienced," she said. "Interconnectedness is how we all survive. Surviving in the world of independent film is hard. There are so many things that fall by the wayside, get destroyed and steamrolled. If we are all together, we are stronger, and I think building relationships with more inexperienced people is really important."
Apart from 'Dune: Prophecy', Watson has also worked on Mira Nair's upcoming historical drama 'AMRI', in which she plays the mother of Hungarian-Indian painter Amrita Sher-Gil. (ANI)
